(6,011 posts)A capon is a rooster that has been castrated to improve the quality of its flesh for food.

So it makes sense that a caper is a rooster nut.

(12,132 posts)and even though there was a small amount of shock at first, it never stopped me from eating them.
In fact, I think I remember being a tiny bit disappointed when I found out the truth. The reality was nowhere near as fun as the story.
But I still pile 'em on - one of my favorite dishes in the world is chicken saltimbucca so I eat them pretty regularly...
My dad was a funny guy.

Sorry! They said the supplier had found salmonella contamination in some of the smoked salmon with the same lot numbers as that sold by Costco. They advised to either dispose of it or return it to a Costco store.

(44,973 posts)If your salmon was contaminated you presumably should have experienced symptoms by now.
"Q. What are the symptoms of salmonellosis?
A. Although in some people salmonellosis could asymptomatic, most people experience diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 8 to 72 hours after the contaminated food was eaten. Additional symptoms may be chills, headache, nausea, and vomiting. Symptoms usually disappear within 4 to 7 days. Many people with salmonellosis recover without treatment and may never see a doctor. However, Salmonella infections can be life-threatening especially for infants and young children, pregnant women and their unborn babies, and older adults, who are at a higher risk for foodborne illness, as are people with weakened immune systems (such as those with HIV/AIDS, cancer, diabetes, kidney disease, and transplant patients)."
