His hometown was 5 hours straight north from the post. Mine was 5 hours straight north
from THAT. My car wasn't that reliable. He had a brand new one. When we had a long
weekend, we would take his car and I would drop him off at home and continue on. On
the way back, usually with just enough time to get back and change into our uniforms
and race onpost to the weekly formal formation on Monday mornings. We were often so
into the road trip itself that, if we had time, we'd go hours beyond our destination and
turn back when we had to.
.
One weekend, Buzz had dropped some very powerful acid early Sunday morning so
that when I picked him up VERY early Monday morning, he was still FLYING!!!
.
I was hoping that he would calm down by the 6:30 formation, but it was not to be.
He was pretty quiet, but his eyes were crazed and he kept flicking his tongue WAY
out to LOUDLY lick his lips like some sort of lizardman.
.
We positioned him far back and in the middle of our platoon formation and someone
answered for him when his name was called. We managed to hide him away for most
of the day -- and he was fairly normal again (though exhausted) by Monday afternoon.
.
If that second cat were licking its lips, it would look much like Buzz had.
