OK, some of you asked, so here's some recording of the band...

Did shortened demo tunes live in our practice studio. No tracks, just from the mixer so it's a little rough. Gives an idea of the style we shoot for though. unfortunately I had a sore throat and the second tune's crummy singing was mine. I usually belt it out a little more.

You do sound a bit understated......but I like that.

The guitar work is very cool on both tracks...

Your group deserves to be heard widely!

I usually have more gravel in my voice, but I just couldn't push that hard last night. Thanks for the compliment and I'm glad you like the tunes.

... this one's sweet!!! It may have just been the tracks you chose, but you walk the bass
more than most -- I liked that.

I think I like your restrained voice on the second one more than if you had been belting
it out... and I think I heard a little Randy Newmanish quality there.

The drummer and I have been playing together off and on for about twelve years. There's a lot of trust there and we know each other's cues very well.

Part of the sound quality is due to the guitar and my bass coming DI to the mixer and the drummer was wsing a Roland electronic kit so he was direct too. The only analog was the vocals, so it made mixing a ton easier. We'll be doing some track work later on, but for a quick and dirty last night these didn't turn out too bad.

Thanks for the vocal notes. I just didn't feel very trusting of my voice last night, so I backed way off.

I'm always amazed by vocalists who can sing to FUCKING BLISTERING music in a
ultra-smooth cool lounge-singer type of mellowness. I think it takes some real
talent to develop that ability to hold back.

Maybe you should use it occasionally as a change-up.

You'd make Otis Rush and Bo Diddley proud.
Between the two tunes, I especially liked the cover of all your love, though. Great stuff!

These were done for demo use, so we cut them up. On All Your Love we do a 60 bar sequence where we go from the swing to shuffle and back change. Fun to play.

The guitar player, drummer, and myself have been playing together off and on for about twelve years, the keyboard player is new. We can usually count on forty or fifty people showing up for a bar gig, but we're working on expanding our base and the venues we play. Pretty much a hobby band as we all have day jobs.

and plays some blues/rock guitar himself, though no longer in a band--he was impressed. He noticed that your guitarist has a cool Santana-like sound in that first song. Hope you guys get a bigger following--although 40-50 people in a bar is already a good turnout.

We actually do a cover of Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen pretty much note for note. Usually play it at the end of the night as it's not a blues tune, but it's a gas to play and the crowd enjoys it.

That switch to shuffle in the middle of the first song was the closest thing to a Texas blues mosh part that I've ever heard. I was smiling huge.

And don't sell yourself short on the second song. The voice you ended up with worked very well with that song.

All in all, I really liked what I heard. Great job!
