(73,663 posts)There's no "if"!
The long lasting band (20 years) played progressive pop/alternative, with a touch of jazz influences (both me & the drummer).

Four crew members on a tank. Four band members. Lead vocal/keyboards/rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass guitar, and drums.
We play hard rock, interspersed with metal, and some goth rock.

Mister Ed
(6,649 posts)I'd name the band "The Stolen Roans."
Also, I think it'd be fun to form a band that does six-piece Southern boogie versions of songs from the Leonard Cohen catalog. I'd call the band "Lynyrd Cohen".
Their crowd -pleasing tour de force would be "Free Bird On A Wire".

(5,471 posts)...which I did.
They were called:
1. Benedict Arnold & The Traitors - 1980-1982 / 2000-2008
2. The Hundredth Monkey - 1982-1989
3. Pendu Femelle - 1990-1991
4. Picture This - 1992-1994
5. Slowdazzle - 1995
6. (1996-2007 - on and off, played in various other bands not my own)
7. Green Sparkle Frog - 2008 / 2019
In the early 80s, BA & The Traitors got some L.A. airplay on KROQ, plus some national airplay on Dr. Demento's radio show.
Slowdazzle snagged a Columbia Records development deal, but our drunken singer could not record her vocals on the 6-song demo that we had to submit to finalize the deal. Our A&R guy/producer was Sandy Pearlman, who had produced, amongst others, Blue Oyster Cult. Sad story, I guess.
If you search YouTube, you can find Traitors stuff, and Green Sparkle Frog.

The first was Tokin'. The logo was a joint with the name spelled out in the smoke.
The second was what I considered the best band name I have ever heard. Get ready for...
Buddha, and The Crippled Christian Band! (I wish I could copyright that one, but it is not mine.)

How about " The Odds" or "Thin Ice"
Country/bluegrass: "Bert and the Snowy Owls"
Reggae: The Irie Riddim Band
Still fun after all these years, in my first band we let a dictionary fall open
until we had a name.
PS. A hat tip to another SF writer harry Harrison for
"The Stainless Steel Rats"

(36,196 posts)...me, remember the names of any of them.
Most of the playing I did in a semiprofessional setting in clubs was solo acoustic work.
For some reason, even though at one point it was a very important part of my life, I haven't picked up a guitar in years, probably because I'm afraid to recognize how much I've lost in skill and how many songs (and tunings) I've forgotten. I last played in public about ten years ago.
