A very sick feral cat needs help. Fundraiser. Please keep kicked.

For the last two years, DUer and lounge regular Flaxbee has cared for Jesse the feral cat. Jesse is now very sick, and although she has a trap Flaxbee does not have any money to get Jesse to the vet.

I've opened a Wishadoo! account on Jesse's behalf. Please help if you can. Go here: http://www.wishadoo.org/wishlist/133/a-very-sick-feral-cat-needs-your-help/

The post that led to this fundraiser is here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1018&pid=215629

I don't know why there are no low-cost clinics for veterinary care. Could be sponsored by some 1 percenters.

I hate when cats are sick. I was sick all afternoon yesterday (vomiting) and my big boy stayed by my side the entire time. I'll send something.

and on October 20, 2012, a perfect amount

My husband had the flu really badly last week and our big ole' tuxedo (Ivan) was glued to his side, too. Jesse's a tough little scrapper and seeing him like this is just breaking my heart.

Amazingly, we're halfway there with some snail mail contributions from those who don't use paypal...

Hope you're feeling better today.

so you can trap him more easily. It may take a while to do it the "slow" way by trying to gain his trust about the trap and it sounds as though his health deterioration isn't going to afford you the luxury of time.

A BIG K&R!!

too ill to be neutered / anesthetized so I'm hoping for $650 total to get him seen and medicated and bloodwork done (that's the most expensive - in-house bloodwork so they can diagnose him properly).

Any other good and wonderful DU'ers who can throw $20 or so into the "kitty" for my kitty?

Once he's healthy, I'll do my utmost to catch him again so I can get him in to be neutered ... right now I just want to keep him alive.

Thanks so much to all of you who have sent love, vibes, and cash. You are all wonderful people.

Some of you wonderful folks sent aid via snail mail; once those come in I will have probably $600-625, which is more than enough to get Jesse seen and cared for because I (finally got a call back!) talked to our local non-government nonprofit on Sunday afternoon and they gave me the names of a few vets who'd work with me on the bill ... if I can give them about 80% of the bill in cash, then they're apparently quite willing to give me a reduced rate for the neuter, flea and tick meds, and rabies shot.

So, the trap is set with tuna. My husband and I are going out to get a piece or two of KFC, which is supposed to be kitty-nirvana. Fingers crossed he shows tonight and I catch him. He snuck in and out late, late, late last night, ate some kibble and left without resting in the bed I have set up for him. I think he's sick of me peering at his eyes with the flashlight and trying to remove his ticks so he skulked in in the very early hours of the morning and left very little evidence, aside from the food evidence.*

(*I know the kibble wasn't eaten by either our local opossum or raccoon, because they're both slobs and trash the place... well, the opossum is a relatively neat eater but still manages to leave crud in the water; the raccoon just dumps the kibble in the water and makes a mess. )

I can't tell each of you how very much I appreciate your generosity and willingness to help my little Jesse-cat. He really needs some loving care, and thanks to all of you, I'm going to be able to give it to him; I'm determined to catch him one way or another.
