(17,340 posts)One of the doctors doing work on the microbiome (poop transplants and other things) had a patient awhile ago who ear infections in one ear. They kept giving antibiotic drops, etc, etc. Nothing worked. One day the guy shows up and his ear infection is gone.
He had taken wax from the uninfected ear and put it in the infected one. He was cured.

(21,020 posts)to get pretty grossed out reading that article until I discovered that mixing the poo with water didn't mean the recipients had to drink it.
Direct application to the affected area. Still sort of ick using someone else's poo, but at least it's not an oral cure.
