She missed mom and dad. We took a red-eye home, I took a nap, and she was right up against me for hours.

I had the choice to either physically move him, or to get his leash and take him with me.

I had one that would hide when I returned letting me know they were unhappy with me being away. The four I still have all greet me as soon as I walk in the door and I have to be careful I don't trip over them before I am completely inside. They know more than we give them credit for.

It took her two full days to forgive me and come see me. I was heartbroken.

It also helps to take the effort to speak to them and inform them about your plans and timing. They can pick up on the energy. Once during when my now Wife and I were on vacation and she exclaimed "I forgot to tell Chazz we were going on a trip". I was incredulous but he was freaked out and after that we made the effort to inform him of our plans when we left, especially on overnights with packed bags. Now when we are taking the cats along, we just surprise them as it is a pain to hunt them down and easier to do the explaining once they are secured in their carry cages.
