If not ignoring song birds, then those wonderful little yellow finches that have made a Colorado comeback after years of near decimation from West Nile Virus infection.

(26,113 posts)I have numerous pictures and statuettes (ceramic and bronze) of eagles all over my house. Sisters and GF give me eagle-related stuff for Xmas & birthdays. And, of course, I am an Eagle Scout! Years ago, I did volunteer work for an eagle conservancy that rescued & rehabilitated disabled or injured eagles.

I provide food for both the orioles and hummingbirds in my yard.

(39,825 posts)A few facts from their FAQ page.
https://birdsarentreal.com/pages/faq
What do you mean Birds Arent Real?
The term Birds Arent Real refers to biological Birds no longer existing on United States soil. After the government forcibly made the entire species extinct in the 20th century, all of these real birds were replaced with surveillance drones designed to look just like Birds. To simplify- Birds no longer exist in the U.S. as a biological lifeform, thus, Birds Arent Real!
What is bird poop?
Bird poop was originally thought to be oil discharge from earlier bird drone models. After further research though, this was disproven. Bird poop irregularly falls on vehicles in large amounts. Recent studies show that 87% of Bird Poop in populated areas falls on peoples cars. Why is this? Confidential documents leaked in 2018 revealing that Bird Poop is actually a form of liquidated tracking apparatus. If you walk outside and notice some bird poop just happened to fall on your car, be aware that you are now being tracked by the United States Government. It is recommended you clean your car exterior regularly to avoid this.

Green herons, to answer your question.

(37,092 posts)When I was a kid, we were taking a Sunday drive to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and about 10 miles south of the Mackinac Bridge, along I-75, there were 9 Arctic/Snowy Owls perched on old fence posts along the highway. They were huge and they were stunning.
They looked like this:

I read somewhere that the more birds a person sees, the happier they are. Our backyard is absolutely alive with all of these birds this spring, and several others, and I am quite happy.

(30,719 posts)Most fearless animal I've ever encountered. If needs be, they can run away from practically any dangerous situation, and if things get critical, they simply fly off. They have no fear of poisonous snakes---hell, they dine on them. Impressive birds, for sure.

(73,113 posts)Watching them soar & ride the updrafts is awesome.
I watched a couple on the golf course one day.
They flew the length of 2 holes (probably a half mile), turned around, did the sane in the other direction.
They each flapped their wings ONCE!
Awesome sight.

(305 posts)If you would have told me 20 years ago I would become a birder. I would have called you crazy, but here I am. Managing 6 or more feeding stations. My favorite bird(s) change with the seasons. Presently purple martins are my favorite. Or perhaps humming birds, cant forget the eastern bluebirds, or the orioles, maybe red wing blackbirds that nest in our cattails? See where Im going here, lol.
Unfortunately we only have two mating pairs of martins this year because we also have a mating pair of red shoulder hawks. And they have grown fond of using the Martin house as their perch. If I could post a picture. I would post a pic (or 10 ) of our latest pets, a pair of wild turkeys.
Okay Ill stop now because I truly love birds.
