It's safer to make a submarine out of plastic than carbon fiber.
i'm watching a documentary on OceanGate and they mention a company that does it right, Triton Submersibles, who have built the ultimate deep sub.
The documentary neglects to mention that Triton has also built a submersible that's been commercially rated to visit the Titanic, over and over again with no safety issues, and she's made of "acrylic"…which is a fancy term for plastic.
