I have no answers any more, only the life I lived...
This is quote form a movie called Shadowland. It's about the love between C S. Lewis and the American poet, Joy Davidman. They married so that Joy could stay in England and grew to love each other deeply in the four years they had together.
Joy Died from Cancer and the movie plays out their last few years as a quiet, dignified way to share life when you know one is about to pass on.
It's a small movie, full of British restraint and then emotional release.
Joy turned Lewis' life over as he found love for the first and only time in his life.
So many people discover that love can be wonderful even when the pain sometimes is unbearable and yet so precious.

(5,604 posts)I have loved many of times in many situations, and when it comes down to it....my losses (hurt) outweigh the benefits. I suggest everyone try it passionately at critical points of their lives.
Now that I'm older and don't believe in the Hollywood attraction anymore, (and I don't have kids). I'm done withe the PERSONAL notion of hurt and gain, and have thus become an Anarchist. Thats my personal answer... and I understand that it doesn't work for 'dreamers' and 'believers'. To each is own.

(13,985 posts)I know love hurts. Worse than any physical injury. Twice in my life I both dropped out of school and lost my job because I couldn't function. I'm going through the same thing now, but I really can't afford not going to work. Hopefully ill find the strenght keep going.

The only thing is that time heals everything. More or less anyway.
