I always tell people to adopt the oldest cat or dog they find at the shelter. Especially humans who themselves aren't all that young anymore.

(3,836 posts)4. Some shelters will help senior adopters, too. I've heard some shelters will cover medical costs
and food to assist seniors adopt and keep the mature kitties in homes where they belong.
