(28,037 posts)So true - regardless of species. One of my favorite parts of my peds NP job was getting to see first time dads fall totally in love with their newborn babies. If it was a baby girl, I would usually say, as if speaking to the baby, "I'll bet your daddy has already decided no dating 'til you're 30, FBI background checks on any boy who calls or comes to the door, and if anyone tries to get away with any of the things he hoped to get away with while dating, they'll have him to answer to." Pretty universally, the besotted new dads would say one or another version of, "You got that right!"
One dad even replied "If I could find a convent, I'd sign her up right now."

(38,721 posts)the overhead door up. They fly over and peck at the glass on the side window. Many times I have gently cradle them in my hand and release them outside.
