Who do so many people hate morning darkness so much?

I totally get it if you prefer not to take your kids to school when it's dark outside, so let's put that aside for now. I start work at 7:00 AM, and I love that it's still dark when I head out in the morning.

Yet, it appears that almost everyone else dislikes it except for me! I'm curious, why is that? What is it about the darkness in the morning that you find unappealing?

Who wants to get up in the middle of the night and go to work?

I don't like driving in the dark, but I like being up early when most people are still asleep.
It is so quiet and peaceful. And I get a head start on everyone else.

That's precisely why I love it. I hate mornings.

Who wants to get up in the middle of the night and go to work?

I fully agree there!

We all wear headlamps and flashing lights on the dog's collars, but otherwise we get to see the sky, the moon, the constellations and planets as they change, an occasional shooting star or meteor shower, and the sunrise. Worth every morning!

They have it backwards and they need to give us an extra hour of daylight in the winter instead of the summer.

It's depressing as hell. It's colder when the sun sets and one needs to shovel or snowblow snow. There's 10 million Americans who have seasonal light disorder.

I also don't like driving in the dark at all.

I would like to have artificial light in my living room in the winter but I already have a colossal window in my living room. I just need it to shine artificial light instead of being pitch black.

Here's some idea of what season light disorder is.

Some people are such babies now.
We tried to make our kids more comfortable. I guess we did to much.

twice a year, I'm fine with dark in the morning, dark in the evening, WHATEVER. As long as we get the x hours of light that we should ... as long as the sun is rising and setting we should be just fine.

STOP CHANGING THE FUCKING CLOCKS and we could all just get used to it.

I love being awake as the world wakes up. I get to enjoy listening to the birds before the traffic noise starts to hum and the neighborhood starts coming to life.

One morning I woke up after an ice storm. A lot of branches were braking. There wasn't any other sound except for the crack of another branch and the wooshing sound it made as it fell.

I'm such a morning person that I still set an alarm to get up.

It is not by choice and I hate it.

I guess decades of doing so made me a tool even when I tried to fight it.

Oh well.

I hated driving home (sixty miles) as the sun was rising. It felt as if someone was pouring sand in my eyes. I much preferred driving home in the dark. It also made it easier to fall asleep once I got home if it was still dark. In the fall, just as it was getting more pleasant to drive, the time was changed to make the sunrise artificially earlier. Institutionally implemented torture. Arrgh.

Incidentally, my wife, a natural night owl, often stayed awake until I arrived home and retired to bed with me. She found the night time perfect to attend to her personal chores. We have animals so she would often work in the barn overnight with her horses or rescue cats.
