(the little kids go out early with parents to homes of other parents in their social circle, and the older kids go to "the cooler' neighborhoods, I guess... )

I didn't buy any. I would have felt awful if some had come and scrambled for something to give them, but alas. None. And now, I may start craving chocolate, but I don't have any. Good for the hips, I guess, but...

Didn't have a whole lot of candy left that I liked, I am not a huge chocolate lover. Just the KitKats.

Both are the 'snack size' of those. My ex has a large bag of 'Smarties' in the typical size for them.

The last couple of years we had a few, and one family with a kid that *really* liked getting the full-size bars instead of the (allegedly) 'fun' size (who's idea of 'fun' was that??).

They'd show up and I'd open the door and tell the kids 'take 2'. On his way down the front stairs last year he yelled out, "Mom, this house has the BEST candy! Look! FULL SIZE!!!"

Filled my heart with joy to see how this one little gesture really brightened this kid's day.

Now we have a good assortment of Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, 100 Grand, and Crunch to sustain us for the next several months.

We're on a busy street, and the local businesses have a thing for the kids a week before. We usually get 2 or 3 families, but there are no more kids on the block and it was rainy and nasty out.

Breath mint or candy? How about both? The licorice-scented sweet known as Sen-Sen was also marketed as a "breath perfume" in the late 1800s.

(Of course, I was that 'weird' kid that also liked Blackjack licorice gum and Choward's Violet Candy.)

We had less than 10 show up. The last little fellow was half way down the driveway when he pulled out the bag, held it up and shouted "thank you for these."

We bought the big bags of the M&M/Mars minis. Milky Way, Snickers, 3 Muskateers & Twix.
I was just grabbing 4 or 5 and throwing them in the bags.
So, it was random what the kids got and random what we had left over.
Same with the bags of chips.
