Does anyone here own a Kia Sportage Hybrid?

I'm looking for a new car.

I currently own a Subaru Outback, and a Hyundai Elantra. I've been pleased with both of these vehicles.

Looking at Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage Hybrid.

I've been looking at the reviews on Edmunds, and the Sportage hybrid is rated very high.

I'm looking for opinions of current owners of any of the above vehicles.

This will likely be the last car I buy.

Thank you in advance.

It seems that older Hyundai's and Kia's can be hot wired with a USB cable. It was a Tik-Tok challenge a few years ago.

We have an AWD Touring Hybrid CR-V now. We absolutely love it! However, it came without a spare tire and wheel, so we bought one after market for it. We have it strapped down in the trunk area.

3. Not a current owner, but I have a good friend who is happy with his two year old Sorrento hybrid.

I’m not an expert on car reliability, but can add some anecdotal evidence. The Sorrento seems to be just a slightly bigger Sportage if I’m not mistaken. His wife has had a Sportage for 7-8 years and it has been dependable enough for them to get a second KIA. I believe KIA has both a plug in hybrid and a non plug in. His model is not the plug in. I don’t think he has had any issues in two years. I’m guessing almost everyone knows a CR-V owner because they have a reputation for being very dependable. I’m not familiar with the Tucson, but I did come across the following comparison. It seems that they are all decent cars. I would go with the one that fits my needs best.

And couldn’t be happier. And it was to replace our Outback which was a big disappointment - I’d never buy another Subaru. My only complaint is that it’s sometimes a bit “grippy” as you’re driving which I think is because of the AWD, but I’ve had that with other cars just can’t get used to it. I would’ve bought a RAV4 but we already bought one for my daughter (and is great) so wanted something different. We pretty much bought the Sportage on KIAs reputation and looks of the car (asked my wife“can you see yourself driving that?”), no test drive. Overall, very smooth ride, very good acceleration, comfortable and roomy and quiet interior, and a bunch of safety features. It even nags me if the cars in front of me has pulled away and I’m slow to keep up.

5. Not my experience but Kia's use to be unreliable

I don't know if they still are unreliable but two separate people that I know had Kia's back in the day and they were constantly at the Kia dealer getting repaired luckily while under warranty. As soon as the warranty expired, those Kia's were replaced. I don't know how Kia's are today but I heard enough about them that I wouldn't buy one. That's just me.

I would definitely check out the Honda CR-V and I would check out the Mazda CX-5 or larger size of the Mazda. I would check out anything by Toyota as well but I'm not up to speed about the Toyota models but everyone says great things about that vehicle brand. And they have for years. I don't know anything about Hyundai.

I would purchase certified used as well and not brand new. You'll save some money that way. Mazda certified used is under warranty for 7 years or 100K miles minus what's already on the speedometer. Whatever comes first. So if you purchase a vehicle with 23K miles there's still 77k left on the warranty. I don't know about other dealerships and their certified used warranties so definitely ask about that.

Make sure you are receiving a good deal on your trade in if you go that route. You might have to sell out right to get what it's worth at some of these dealers.

Just my 5 cents!

7. I really liked my Honda CRV until it got old and I got a H. Tucson. Now I am madly in love. Best vehicle I've ever owned

Also, good value for the money. Extreme luxury like heated back seats and outstanding warranty coverage at no extra charge. Probably will be my last car.

10. Kia Niro is awesome

My 2019 Kia Niro hybrid is the best car I’ve ever owned. It only gets 38 km. on a full charge but that’s enough for most local errands and a full charge costs under $2. I sometimes drive longer distances so wanted the gas option.

Never had a problem with it but it now has 80,000+ km. on it so I’m planning on trading it in for a new one next year. L
