I was in an intersection turning left.Waiting for cars to pass the light turned red and cars kept coming through.I blasted my horn. And after the last car went through I started to turn that another car came and hit me. The guy had a gun on him and was younger. And said no hard feelings. Dude, I said you ran the red light. He goes, I will see you in court. It was yellow. I'm just kind of p***** because there's plenty of witnesses to sing.It wasn't my fault and the cops giving me a ticket for going through the red light. Also , because I was past the white line in the intersection.... Right now I'm trying to relax. So i'm having a shot up vodka but i'm pissed

(3,511 posts)drivers run red lights and stop signs hourly. Got hit a few years ago with injuries and guessing drivers don't consider consequences of their actions. Injuries, car repairs, insurance increases etc

(1,002 posts)About 2 weeks ago I was driving on the freeway and the guy to my right tried to merge into me. I swerved into the left lane but my car spun out and I hit the median at 65mph. The guy never stopped and my car was totaled so now I don't have a car. I got nothing back; the insurance covered nothing. Sometimes you just have to take the loss and be glad you're alive.

I paid and paid and ended up w/a used car that was a nightmare.
If you decide to get another car, buyer beware!
Glad you and the OP were not hurt!

(6,268 posts)You might try proxibid for a used vehicle at auction. https://www.proxibid.com/
Lots of state and local govt auctions use the site and there are a few others as well.

Have an older van that I love and made a lot with of money with it. Replaced the motor, redid the trans and bought 4 new tires. Its a 2000 and not worth much except to me.

(6,268 posts)That is horrible. It's one thing to get hit, but then the bastard lies about it. I hope you got some names and numbers. I'm glad you were not injured, apparently.

(6,998 posts)Anytime you turn you can't enter the intersection before you turn is what he told me. So that's running a red light. But I am going.
To talk to the insurance company and a lawyer

(39,505 posts)a cop is called to an accident scene. Never admit to anything that can be held against you. I would definitely talk to a lawyer.
I have a neighbor who was hit by a u-haul truck. It was all my neighbors fault. The cop asked the u-haul truck driver how fast he was going? The driver said 55. Big mistake, the speed limit changed from 55 to 45 just before the accident. The truck driver was ticketed, and now is being sued for injuries.
Good luck

(12,569 posts)May not be relevant, but I posted about an accident I had. There is a lot more to determining who had the right of way and who had the visibility/responsibility to slow down or break or otherwise avoid the collision than vehicle position, particularly where the state of the light in a controlled intersection is in dispute.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I agree you need a feisty lawyer to take on the nitwit gun-slinging Bubba that hit you and who is either a liar or ignorant of driving rules of the road. Either way he's an asshole in need of a smart lawyer to put him in his place.

(12,569 posts)I was in an accident in which I was making a left turn from a small residential street onto another residential, but busier thoroughfare. The story follows. But the bottom line is that the experts can tell a hell of a lot from the nature of the damage about who was responsible for yielding the right of way, or who failed to do something they should have to avoid the accident. Nothing anyone can say can change the nature of the damage.
In my case, it was an uncontrolled intersection with stop signs and white lines on the small cross street. After I had moved beyond the white line to see (there was a bush it was difficult to see around), while I was looking left, all the sudden there was this terrible squealing sound. A driver in an SUV taking a left onto the street I was coming out of cut their turn way too close. The side of their car hit the left front corner of mine leaving a long side swipe on their car.
The other driver tried to claim I hit him while pulling out. I took photos at the scene, including the relative positions of our cars immediately after, photos of the complete absence of visibility when I stood at the white line, long side swipe on the other car, crunched bits of the left front fender and quarter panel of my car
Anyway, whether it was the photos I submitted to the insurance company or just the adjuster's inspection of my vehicle and the other vehicle, they found that the other driver's claim to their insurance company that I hit them was wrong. It was obvious from the nature of the damage that I was stationary (or inching forward) while the other car was in motion. That, yes, I was well-passed the white line, but I was not far enough to interfere with cross traffic. There was no other way to get the necessary view of traffic than to "sneak out." I think it came down to an assessment that I was an object that the other driver could see, and should have seen. Hitting me was 100% the other driver's fault.
I don't know if this helps at all with your situation, but it sounds to me a bit like you were an object that the person who hit you was responsible for being aware of.

(6,998 posts)I went through the red light.Since when the light changed I was past the white line so therefore even though I wasn't moving I went through the red light The other driver had a gun around his waistband so I don't know if he was an undercover cop but they were all buddy buddy talking to him
