4. Two greats...Reiner set the table and O'Connor delivered

And the writing…impeccable. What a show that was. I was just a kid, a budding liberal surrounded by Archie types, some more lovable than others. My family was from the Bronx but they may as well have been on 704 Hauser Street. There was a lot of conflict. I think a lot of boys my age identified with Michael and would always be fond of Rob Reiner whatever he did because of it.

15. I cried when this episode aired and I'm getting choked up once again.

My life seemed like a parallel to theirs when it came out. I watched it religiously and have watched it in reruns a couple more times. Archie was my father. I was Gloria's age - newly married with a baby boy. My mother was like Edith - loveable but not ditzy. When Gloria had a miscarriage I cried like a baby because I had one also.

This was truly a groundbreaking show and so many people tuned in to watch it.

Everybody watched it. Some were team Archy and some of us were team Meathead, but we always had Edith to synthesize what was going down. At the risk of sounding like the old fucker that I am, they don’t make TV like that anymore.

18. That episode was on the TV just a few days ago. One of the

most impactful scenes and right up there with Carroll O'Connor sitting on the bed and "talking to Edith" after she had died. One of the most powerful things I've ever seen on TV or film.

There are many good people in this world, but there are very few who society deems "really good". Reiner was one of the ones that you simply cannot argue about. He fits into the "really good" category and he will be missed.

The tragedy of how he and his wife died is almost too much to bear. He did all the right things, and yet, still this happened.

Then Trump makes a stupid post about it.

So, in case anyone is keeping score:

Reiner: Good guy

Trump: Ugliness incarnate.

I’m bawling again. I really have struggled to cope with this collective grief. Second morning in a row I’ve had instant tears watching these clips and the grief is overwhelming. I can’t even imagine what his close friends and family are going through. I’ve never met Rob and his wife but they were family to me.
