Detroit A 22-year-old man was ordered Friday to stand trial for allegedly trying to carjack a former Kronk Gym boxer in a confrontation that didn't go quite as planned.
And after the victim beat his attacker and wrested away the pistol, the suspect whipped out a piece of paper and yelled, "Give me my gun back; I got a CCW," according to court testimony.
The alleged incident occurred shortly after midnight Oct. 6 at a Marathon station near Seven Mile and Dequindre on the city's east side. Leonard Turner, a 47-year-old former middleweight boxer, had pulled into the station to put air in his tire. He said he was returning home with a friend in the passenger seat.
As Turner put the air in, he said he was approached by a gun-wielding man later identified as Brian Hardman of Detroit.
