(10,067 posts)A friend of mine has a niece who's has a catering business for vegetarians (I think it's mainly baked goods).
A couple of years ago she was in town and came over. She brought some cookies with her. After she left I tried one. It was so disgusting it almost made me sick to my stomach. I had to spit it out...

(400 posts)hated it, very tangy. Tried yucca root, very bland. Callaloo tasted like vinegar the first time I tried it, better the next time. I like most foods, love to eat.

(56,740 posts)didn't eat it and I felt sick and left the kitchen

(10,428 posts)My mother and my brother love them. My father did not mind them.
I hate them with a passion that borders on insanity.
(Okay, maybe not that bad, but I do not like livers of any kind. Chicken livers are the worst offenders.)

I think they were hurled out the window as soon as she was out of sight.
Same with liver and rice. Gag me.

(3,281 posts)We had some Sunday night and were able to give blood Monday morning. We were both turned down Friday due to low hemoglobin (iron) and after 3 strikeouts we resorted to the liver and onions Sunday night.
For worst food Ill go with tripe. Ive had it home cooked and blech. But did have it once cooked by a fine Sicilian chef and it wasnt bad.

(177 posts)on a road trip. Stopped at an alleged Chinese restaurant. First and only time I've ever taken a bite of food, spit it out, and threw the rest in the trash. And it was supposed to be something innocuous like cashew chicken.
It was Chinese food like prison food is Michelin starred cuisine.

(1,062 posts)When we first moved to Oklahoma, I tried catfish at a restaurant, and it tasted like an ammonia-soaked rag. Turns out, that ammonia taste in catfish means it is spoiled. After that, we went to many a local fish fry and catfish was delicious. Now we are in Ohio and pollution prevents us from eating any bottom-feeding fishes.
debm55
(56,740 posts)know that Ohio prevents eating bottom feeders. thank you for sharing that.

(468 posts)couldn't even take a bite, the smell of it was enough to make me gag. To this day, I avoid tuna casserole like the very plague.
Of the things I have actually put in my mouth, squash. No flavor.
By the by, okra is good if it's in a gumbo. The tomato keeps it from being slimy. A good gumbo is a thing of joy!

(13,845 posts)As a kid I learned to cut it in tiny pieces and swallow whole (like a pill) and then wash it down with a gulp of milk. I was very careful not to let any part of the food touch my tongue. I literally put the tiny bits in the back of my throat. Mom didn't care as long as it disappeared off my plate, was not hidden in my napkin or fed to the dog.

(558 posts)I love cauliflower raw or cooked . I don't know what they did with to make that crust. It was a two pack of frozen. Ate a couple bites and tossed the rest. Went to the freezer to get the other one and disposed of it also.

(75,968 posts)When I was a kid, I loved liver & onions.
My parents would take us out to eat and when the waitress asked me what I wanted, I'd order liver on onions with a slice of lemon.
The waitress would look at my parents thinking maybe they were making me get that.
My parents would say "He really does want that. He loves it."
And, it's your #1 as worst ever.
I lost my taste for it when I learned what the liver does!
