In a sense, I did.
Instacart shopper scored me 5 gal of distilled water for washing dishes & a case of bottled drinking water.
I've been ordering & reordering for 2 days. No water to be had anywhere, but this guy scored (& got a big tip!).
Already 1 broken water main in Memphis & the super cold, ice storm, & snowstorm hasn't even arrived!

(5,133 posts)I remember in '88 in Dallas when water mains were breaking. Nothing is as slippery as a street filled with ice from a broken main. It was two weeks before it completely melted.

Roads frequently break axles, etc. & crime way too high.

I guess the masses didn't "thunk" of that.
Last time such a storm hit here, people were without electricity & potable water for 3 weeks. Yikes!
That was in 1994 &, trust me, infrastructure has done nothing but deteriorate during the intervening years.
Preventative maintenance & upgrades seem to be missing from the Southern vernacular.

(129,922 posts)litter containers. Bottles of water for drinking, juices, etc., and things I can eat without cooking (cans and pouches), and plenty of kitty supplies. It is only supposed to be bad for a couple of days with this storm system, but I live on the Front Range, so always try to be prepared.
Please, everyone, be careful and safe and well out there.

Tasted weird, so I googled what they did to it. Gobbled up by bush years ago. No longer brewed in Belgium, dammit!
Hunkered down here. 👍

Also, every container in the kitchen. Every pot and pan and jar.
