To have the volume raised as high as can be, and then to close your eyes and let the notes take you to very special places, like that place where you just give yourself to it, knowing it's a magical soulful journey that can't be experienced that same exact way ever again.

I have no idea why I cried, because I can't understand a word he sings, but those notes, and how he dilevers them is like like giving myself to a guided meditation completely.
I was sorry it had to end.

I thought for just a moment it was a Pavarotti recording. I saw it was Bocelli and was happy to have a live performance and knew he would do it justice, but boy did he do it justice. Nessun dorma sung well is really an impactful performance. Bocelli did not disappoint.

I quite enjoyed most of the parts of the opening ceremony earlier today, so I am watching bit again in the prime time slot.

Back in the late 80s I was lucky enough to hear Pavarotti sing Nessun Dorma in person at a fundraiser for the arts in Philadelphia. Nessun Dorma was the one piece from that concert that has stayed in my memory all those years.

The Four Tenors on PBS many years ago.
I should have given myself to Opera back then, but was afraid as my ignorance and innocence in that field is equivalent to that of an infant.
Going all the way back to "Philadelphia" the movie, and even then, I was so moved by the songs.
I think I just got a second chance.

He did a concert in Pittsburgh at the Civic Arena (some 'Philly' people will know that it is where Sydney Crosby plays!) - NOT a great concert hall, but rather a 'sports arena' that was able to hold a larger crowd that had demanded to hear the great Luciano!
The 'unique' thing about the Civic Arena was that they had a domed roof that could be opened to make the Pittsburgh skyline visible to the crowd.
So there it was - the beautiful Pittsburgh skyline twinkling in the background while Luciano did his best encore performance of Nessun Dorma, complete with white handkerchief, and I was locked for life with one of my best moments ever!

By the way - that was my 2nd chance to hear him live. Years earlier he performed at a 'true' concert hall in town (Pittsburgh) with Dame Joan Southerland! The best of the best, for sure!

He’s the best, such a necessary performance. Thank you, Italy, for your artistic excellence and example of human class and dignity.

Something in MAGAts that’s conspicuous by its absence.
