I'm too old to be this stupid

Heading back to LI today from my niece's christening a day ahead of the rest of my family so I can meet the flood insurance adjuster and I got to the airport early.

So, naturally, I went to the bar for a few while I waited. The bar by my gate was loud and brightly lit, so I went to one on the other side of the terminal.

At boarding time I headed for my departure gate 19. As I walked by I noticed the plane was not at the gate, so I went into the nearest bar an kept an eye on the gate - but not the time.

I finally went to investigate and found that the gate was changed and boarding was closed

Now I am waiting 2.5 hrs for the next flight and it's not direct.

But I only did it once, so maybe there's some small glimmer of hope for me.

I would stop in my favorite town bar and have a beer or two while waiting. I've always been a procrastinator
so, more often than not... I would MISS the first bus, often watching it whiz by (they only came once an hour
at that time of night). I'd go back to the bar for another beer or three while waiting for the next bus.
.
Sometimes, I missed more than just that first bus. I only missed them ALL once (they stopped running at
1 AM) and walked home in the dead of winter, fairly buzzed. I started to overheat and took off my light
jacket and continued on in a short-sleeved dress shirt and a pair of thin leather gloves.
.
Halfway home, there was a bank with a "current temperature" sign out front.

16 degrees Fahrenheit.

I was so toasty.

And, apparently... toasted.

Once, one of the bouncers told the bartender that he thought I was a drug dealer because I'd
leave, apparently conduct my business and come right back 'til the next transaction.
