FOR LuckyCharms!

We had bad neighbors when I was growing up.

Sickening family. Mostly the husband, just big TUB OF LARD...big mouth, profane..used to "shower" outside with a garden hose and stick his hand down his shorts to clean his genitals and ass.

He'd to throw glass beer bottles from his porch across the street to shatter on the pavement right where our neighbor parked their car. The worst was he'd come outside with a shovel and BANG on a large metal tub for mixing concrete, just to annoy and startle everyone. That went on every day at ANY TIME. The straw that broke the camel's back was the day my mother had had ENOUGH.

While he was pounding away, she went outside to ask him to stop. HE HIT HER with the shovel. ( Swung for the head but she turned and he got her right in the shoulder.)

Finally three other neighbors and my family got a lawyer and took him to court. The judge ruled they could pay a LARGE settlement to us........ or 'MOVE.'

They moved. And he thought he'd get his revenge by selling to a BLACK family in our totally white neighborhood

Little did they know the husband/father was a Reverend and his young wife and family were just as courteous and pleasant as could be. LOL!!!

Hang in there, LuckyCharms!

I was hoping I'd connect to folks with that bit of personal history....I hope so. Ya gotta have heart, right?

We had a little old nun who taught us in grade school. Seemed like she was ninety, but what a character! She'd make a muscle in that sklnny little arm and say through all the creases: "Armstrong!", twinkling like a wee Yoda.

I remember that when things get tough.

And I feel grounded again. I hope each one of us can remember trials in our lives .....but we're STILL STANDING.😊

to remember those people in our lives who even in SMALL ways, or by their humor combined with fortitude, are always there.

Just a split-second remembrance can prop us up in the moment when we need it.
