On Ash Wednesday, you can get your forehead blessed with ashes at Mass or a prayer service. These ashes are a reminder that we need to repent.

But Ash Wednesday is a somber day. It's the beginning of Lent and the ashes are a reminder that we will return to ashes. It's a day of reflection, not a happy day of celebration. That's what Mardi Gras (yesterday) was.

I guess I think "Happy Ash Wednesday" is like the Orange Pedophile saying "Happy Memorial Day."

I'm not going to get into an argument about it. I just think some devout Christians would be a little put out by it. Believe me, I'm an agnostic, so I'm not offended by it.
