(4,211 posts)Most basic is hot dog, mustard or ketchup, vegan mayo, (due to allergies), sweet pickle relish. When I want to dress it up, it will get chili, cheese, and/or onions.

(76,743 posts)The big supplier in Chicago is Marconi.
This year, the crop was below average yield, and tariffs affected supply from some countries.
So, for about 3 months supermarkets couldn't get them.
The real reason is that the big hotdog joints in the Chicago market got first dibs, because those restaurants can't serve Chicago dogs without sport peppers.
So, those of us grilling dogs this summer were out of luck. I had to switch to jalapeños, but they're not the same.

(2,706 posts)My mother liked mayonnaise and onions, which I consider to be a rather odd combination for a hot dog.
But then again, she liked to put onion and chive cream cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel.
To each his/her own.

(2,706 posts)that she liked chive and onion cream cheese on a cinnamon raison bagel that I thought (and said out loud) "that doesn't even sound good." I guess hearing it out loud made me realize that for the first time!
