We were piled into our station wagon — me and my sisters and the 3 girls who lived across the street — by our mothers for a shopping trip to Goodwill, singing that song at the top of our lungs. We loved the cuss words and yelled them out, to our moms’ mortification. Rest in peace, Country Joe (and any Fish who have passed on).

Vietnam could be changed to Iran easily. And a group of protestors could go from bar to bar getting everyone on there too join in. I'm going to start working on it.

Back when many of us realized that we HAD TO start speaking up. Some of us did it with our music.

Bless you, Country Joe. You gave our discontent a big loud - and VERY tuneful - voice.

in 1972. I spent all of 1972 and the beginning of 1973 depressed before Tricky Dick ended the draft. An entire year wasted.

We were so close, there was no room
We bled inside each other's wounds
We all had caught the same disease
And we all sang the songs of peace

Some came to sing, some came to pray
Some came to keep the dark away

at various concerts on the west coast during the 1969-1971 years. There is nothing more exhilarating than shouting out f-u-c-k. what does that spell, when you're 18/19 years old. I loved him, I have his lp, I listen to it every few years. I am so sad.
