There's no bass guitar on the studio track, either. I read that Phil played an acoustic guitar when they recorded it.

Why is Phil playing a Telecaster instead of bass? Because it is a sound check, perhaps? Always interested in this sort of thing.

Maybe a tough song to sing with the bass, or just a sound thing he wanted?
Great song, regardless. Bell is great guitarist.
