1. Technical Question to Musicians out there

Why is Phil playing a Telecaster instead of bass? Because it is a sound check, perhaps? Always interested in this sort of thing.

2. There's no bass guitar on the studio track, either. I read that Phil played an acoustic guitar when they recorded it.

Maybe a tough song to sing with the bass, or just a sound thing he wanted?

detailed account of the recording. Btw, this is the 3rd page I saw saying Phil played acoustic guitar on the single, but I didn't bookmark the others.
