Woke up this am and went to start the coffee in my Cuisinart coffeemaker....and it had died overnight! So NO COFFEE this am!

New one ordered and will be delivered here on Wednesday. Meanwhile I have to get dressed and go out for coffee!

If my mother were here she would tell me to think of the poor starving children in China. I always wondered how MY deprivation would in any way help them, so I sulked any way!

Coffee grounds, coffee filter, stapler. Make a big ‘tea bag’ with the coffee filter..your preferred amount of coffee grounds on the filter…fold it over…roll the edges so the grounds cannot escape…staple shut for better security…place your now named Coffee Bag in the amount of water you usually make bring to a boil. Remove from heat let steep for a couple of minutes …enjoy.

Folgers use to make coffee bags like tea bags by the cup. Took them backpacking. But now I am a fresh grind my own French press snob.
Not always. The coffee on my destroyer was thick as honey and I could walk up the steep ladder well to CIC with 4 cups, the ship ricking with the seas, on Starboard watch, and not spill a drop. It was nasty, but crucial to not fall sleep in a dark combat control center.

20. nothing beats midwatch coffee

particularly when it was brewed at 2300 last night and all that's left at 0330 is the 2+ inches of sludge and your watch relief had to go to sickbay (pissing off both you and the HM)...fond memories...cheers, OSD

Also made ‘hot water’ coffee with instant or in case of a rushed morning a spoonful of instant coffee directly ingested orally followed by a quick wash of water.
I used to travel a lot and had to get by on some questionable tactics.

15. Sorry. I gave up on electric coffee makers long ago in favor of the Pour-over system...

Since I have had a hot water boiler (from Zojirushi) for nearly 15 years with zero issues that lets me set the water temp of the water (different sizes but mine is 3 liters) and to use filtered water, I'm all set. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cooking needs--all there at a push of a button. My little ceramic pour-over device (Bee House makes mine--from Japan) with a paper unbleached filter gets the coffee ready in 2-3 minutes at most. I use Arabica coffee but not the most expensive by any means as I tend to buy pre-ground coffee.

I highly recommend this.

I’ve used one for decades. They are less than $20, they never break, can be used on about any heat source and you can brew coffee as strong as you want.

17. Our electric kettle broke just yesterday

I only drink Folger's instant ("freeze-dried, keeps forever" ) so we're in the same boat, sort of. The replacement, a Secura electric kettle, arrives tomorrow.

We were expecting a big storm overnight so we ground the beans before going to bed. If I'm gonna be without power, I'll at least have coffee!
