People in or know anything about Memphis

Please tell me about any barbecue places you would recommend. Or which to avoid?

Will be there in June and want to hit as many spots as possible.

1. Been there.

Lots of places but can't recall names. Watch yourself as there are a lot of sketchy people around. Left my girlfriend for a few minutes to get the car at the art fair a few years ago and she had "followers" when i got back. Broad daylight Sunday afternoon, on the riverfront.

3. Recs

Central bbq or the commissary in Germantown are two I've always frequented. Rendezvous is good for ambiance but I don't think the actual food is all that impressive. Also, try Gus' Fried Chicken.

I live a couple of hours away and haven't eaten at either in a couple of years. Could be a new place I'm unaware of......

4. Commissary in Germantown

There is also one in Collierville. Superb!

Bozo's is Mason is also very good.

9. Buy the extra ins & roadside assistance coverage!

Im not joking! We know 2 ppl whose well maintained vehicles had wheels pbysically ripped off pick ups! Broke tie rods, struts, etc. & ripped brake lines out!

Do not drive at night as it's harder to see potholes! That & apparently it's more fun for meth heads to shoot moving targets after the sun goes down.

I lived in Chgo 55 yrs & I only leave my home for annual dr visit for bloodwork.

Be safe & avoid south Memphis!
