(29,690 posts)has among its number a couple of cats who will swat at your hand when you take it away following a petting session. Never had a cat do that before, and now I have two unrelated cats who lash out when denied the attention they so richly deserve.

(11,787 posts)and I've never had one that was actually affectionate they accepted petting, but didn't even want to sit on my lap, let alone cuddle; and DEFINITELY didn't want to be picked up.
I've wondered if I should have been pushier, and forced more affection onto them; maybe they'd have gotten used to it? But honestly, I felt like maybe they'd been traumatized in the past, and I didn't want to freak them out. I did of course take good care of them physically until they died, and also played with them regularly they did like that. But t.b.h., the whole experience was rather sad.
Advice about this welcome!

(11,740 posts)On me as soon as they saw me and crawl up on my shoulder. Then I also had those that had no interest in being cuddled and would meow violently if I hugged them. It's their personality. Just the way they are. Just keep trying especially belly rubs and maybe one of them will at least acquiesce and just let you have your way and begin to like it.
