Would you drive this highway?

Better do it while sober!

For those who are curious:

Stretching across 800 miles (1,287 km), the Karakoram Highway links Pakistan and China via the stunning Khunjerab Pass, which rises to 15,397 feet (4,693 meters). Often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.”

I still remember my Father being pissed that I wanted to buy a (minimally) sporty car with manual transmission when I was a teenager. At the time we lived in a city with quite a few hills impacting their main roads. Well, he showed me--dropped me off and told me to figure it out. Heaven help whoever was behind me at all those stoplights going down or uphill--LOL. Still, by the time I got home, my white knuckles had blood flow again and I think I still had use of the clutch for at least a while longer.

But, that road brings a certain horror only elevated by that memory.

I know this is the "roll the eyes" smilie but I'm inserting it here because the face is green to represent nausea.

And just because someone is nauseous doesn't mean they're going to do this.

Some jerk put a STOP sign at the top. Try keeping the car from rolling backward when you take your foot off the brake and then hit the gas pedal.

You're trying to go fast enough to make it up the hill but slow enough to stay in your lane.

Mine at least would depend upon it being a closed course. You just cannot drive that road in a car like it deserves if it's open.

He did NOT need to speed this up. This road is nerve-wracking enough as it is.
