I've followed DU since forever .

I would like to comment, but IT’S IN THE WRONG FORUM!!!

I’m an old man, and it seems dangerous and stupid to post.

I try to post in the right forum, but if I don’t - and I don’t mean to knock the earth off its axis, jeeze, I messed up. And it takes 8 seconds for someone to drag me.

I hate that I hate posting on DU.

My point was that some here don’t recognize that some of these mistakes they’re quick to judge are harmless, protocol faux pas from some of us older members.

While the rest of the world seems upside down, we could take an extra few seconds to treat each other here a little kinder. Young and old timers are all we’ve got here 🌺

My mom used to say...
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

And sweetness was her leading character trait. It's not a bad thing to be remembered for.

Editorials and Other Articles, they come with the links of the authors

most other subjects seem to fit quite nicely in General Discussion

Which is General Discussions because it’s a pretty safe place to discuss just about anything. Don’t let anyone get in your way if you have something to say. Each of us were new here once upon a time 🌺

I posted about an experience I had in cherry-red north Texas in which my local Goodyear dealer held a knife to my throat because I had the audacity to mention my intent to vote for Barack Obama. Within minutes, the posse had accused me of lying and averred that the incident had never occurred. Some of the replies were quite personal and offensive, as I recall. So, I have greatly reduced my presence on this board because like you, I don't feel welcome here. Over fifty-five years of voting Democratic, supporting Democratic candidates across the nation, and years of experience in local and national politics mean nothing to these people. (Did I mention that I have a close relative who worked in the Johnson White House?) I will continue to support DU in my meager way, as I have for over twenty years, but I have no interest in offering my perspective. DU remains a great source for breaking news and opinion, but fuck that posse that tries to dehumanize you.

What you have to say is the important thing.

The world is going to hell in a shopping cart. It is pointless to waste time on trivialities.

Also my mother was an English teacher. She gave up and accepted me. Ran out of red ink. So I’m use to a lot of it.
I keep trying and just try to be nice.
