On my way out of the grocery store today, I passed a couple who had,

clearly, never been in before. They were just coming even with the Starbucks, and the woman just stared and said, "I've never seen a Starbucks in a grocery store before. I don't get it." She appeared to be in her late 40's or early 50's, and was clearly not a tourist. I so very much wanted to stop and ask her where she was from, but did not. One of the clerks in floral, which is right next to the Starbucks, also heard her and just shook her head. Then she told me about a woman she encountered several months ago when the Starbucks was closed briefly for a remodel. A woman caame up to her, in an actual panic, stating that she absolutely could not do her grocery shopping without her Starbucks. Had I heard that woman, I would have helpfully suggested that she purchase one of any number of canned or bottled caffeinated drinks (Starbucks has several) before her actual shopping.

And it isn't even a full moon!

Of the 6 grocery stores in my town only Kroger has a Starbucks. That's 2 out of 12 stores.

Edit I left out Target so that's 2 put of 14 stores

I realize that not every grocery store has a coffee kiosk, just as not every bookstore does, either. But such shops are not a new phenomenon.
