The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHave any of you received an email from Netflix regarding the upcoming price increase? I have not, and if I do I'll
cancel the service. I recently subscribed after not having it for a year or so. The only programs weve watched are The Lincoln Lawyer and old episodes of The Closer.
The streaming giant adjusted its pricing structure Thursday, with all subscription tiers rising at least $1.
The companys ad-supported plan is now $8.99 a month, up from $7.99; the standard plan is now $19.99 a month, up from $17.99; and its premium plan is now $26.99, up from $24.99. Extra member pricing also increased, with ad-supported plans now costing $6.99 per additional non-household user, up from $5.99, and ad-free add-ons now costing $9.99, up from $8.99 each.

(497 posts)I am currently paying 42.97/month, for premium plus 2 extra households, so some of my kids can watch too. I hope it won't be going much higher. I am also paying the kids' phone bills, it's getting quite expensive.

(11,849 posts)I had a previous account dating back to way before streaming was a thing and they use to mail DVD's to your address but I terminated it years ago.
I don't pay for but I have access to Sling, Disney Plus, Prime and Hulu. Interview with a Vampire is missing in Sling's on demand. I need to rewatch because a new season is coming in June.
I ended up subscribing/purchasing the $8.63 a month plan. Maybe since I just joined I won't get hit with the new increased price for a little while.
I remember paying $75 (Spectrum) a month for basic cable some 3 to 4 years ago and that's during the introductory phase. Once that expires, they jack it up to $175 a month.
