I find humor. I'm now a freshman in the class of the seniors tribe.

Recently turned sixty a few weeks back. The other day at the gym with a friend who is age sixty two. So dude and i were working out together .
And in doing the box jumps i had to take a break i felt a twinge in my knee.
Took a break walked it off , he said to me do you want my orthopedic doctor number.
And then two Saturdays ago my dear lady friend whom i love a widow so glad i have her in my life. This fine woman and i rolled to checkout some local Mennonite markets.
As they have great prices on meats and cheese they cut out the middleman. This fine lady is like a rifle company first sergeant from my youth beans and bullets i say jokingly as she prepared for our deployment.
A cooler loaded with frozen blue ice packs in the trunk for our purchases. Riding around in my 2004 Toyota Corolla in which i just purchased as a daily commute vehicle only 72000 miles on it. My grandkids will be able to drive the Toyota one day my request just put my ashes in the trunk in a coffee can and refer to the Corolla as the pop pop memorial cruiser.
This fine lady and i were talking excitedly on that Saturday headed home after a day of shopping about our purchases.
Example can you believe that the provolone was only $3.29 a pound.
I have now come to realize that I’m the same age as you old people.

When you retire. It's like every day is Saturday.

Later this year I join the 'old people" club, 70, I can't believe I'm still here.

Recently I've found myself actually thinking/saying/writing 'If I live long enough to see...'

Seems I've arrived in Old .Geezerville.

Never had many membership cards in my life…till I hit …let’s figger …67. Now I’m a card carrying member of a few… joined the CABG patch kids…double duty Cataract club card…AAA (EVAR) club card…the Titanium Hip Club card…Carpal Tunnel first admittance card, could have additional honors bestowed at a later date.
All before I hit 75…not bad!
I get surprise phone calls from the V.A. asking how I’m doing…or switching up my meds. That usually causes me to get into some unplanned activities during the day….checking BP, weight, redoing my prescription list I keep in my wallet along with the previously mentioned membership cards.

But they said after you retire…keep busy…yeah I do. I jest about myself…please stay healthy, eat good foods, love your fellow humans.

As often as you can, say “I’ll try” instead of “I can’t” and just keep going.

I’ll be 81 in three months and stacked cordwood a few days ago. As soon as I can open windows, I’ll paint a couple of rooms. It takes me longer to do things but that matters less than the joy I get from accomplishing something.

Based on your wonderful stories, I dare say you won’t be giving up anytime soon. Enjoy the life you have created and please…..keep writing!

Hugs~

There are no annual membership dues as we make our annual budget in replacement fees. Old people put things in a safe place and promptly forget where said place is located. The decoder ring is useful in talking to young people and listening to songs on the radio that came out after 1972.

when I saw a recent family photo and I'm in the group. I have a favorite uncle who is about 13 years older than I am, and I looked at the photo, and go "How did Uncle Jon get in that shot?" Genuinely perplexed.

... of my 79th year in a few months. The Big 80 is the next landmark coming up in '27. I'm still active, though I'm not quite the Energizer Bunny I used to be.

I got sick the week before Christmas and stopped my 4 mile slogs because of that and the weather. Having a hard time getting back to it. Only able to get up to 2 miles and then only on nice days. Come on spring so I can return to my previous schedule.
