The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsGood morning my DU family,
Fear is such a powerful force in our lives, for good and destructive. I know for me personally, my childhood was filled with crippling fear of abandonment, the unknown, and any form of self expression, that left me searching faces and moments for the clues necessary to survive encounters by trying to guess what was wanted from me.
I write of fear, because while overcoming it is so incredibly difficult at my age, and station in life, we can certainly be reminded how important it is to give our children and grandchildren all the room necessary to become whatever they dream in life.
Please give us a day filled with opportunities to share our fears, along with our recipes for overcoming them with those in our circles of influence, such that we empower them, not cower them. Encourage them to chase, try, dare, dream and yes, to fail.
Have a fearless day dear DU influencers.
Love, John

(4,126 posts)calls Complex PTSD. Unlike standard PTSD it is caused by prolonged trauma that you were helpless to escape. I was a neglected, unplanned child and suffered through rape as a teen. My symptoms creep up every once in a while, and my husbands recent death was a trigger. Im proud to say I am overcoming my fears and adjusting to living alone. A few years ago I couldnt even talk about it. DU definitely helps - there IS strength in numbers and friends here really do care ❤️
Hearing words of encouragement from you definitely helps and makes me feel stronger.
Thank YOU!
