So, a quick story.

I was working at a private school and I had expanded the viewing library of the afterschool program so that they didn't have to be stuck watching only RugRats and Dora the Explorer. (A tough sell to the kids over the age of 5.) So, I brought in my tape of Jonny Quest. We were watching the episode where the Quest team was riding down the Amazon on a boat and the boat was set upon by Amazon alligators. (I may be in error as to these specifics.) The team sees the approaching creatures and they all grab rifles and start to shoot the alligators, Jonny and Hadji included. Well, sir... those kids were absolutely appalled. They could not handle the fact that these boys were right in there with the adults trying to defend their boat. I asked some of them what would they do if they had found themselves in that scenario... would they rise to the occasion, or would they not? (I did not word it that way.)

You don't want to know the answer I got (almost uniformly).

I did watch some of 'The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest', but it was just so bad... thanks to the prevalent practices at the time, the episodes were bland and repetitive. (After 'Batman:The Animated Series', animation seemed like it wanted to pick up, then they just quit trying. It was all computer generated and completely boring.)

To this day, I cannot understand why they keep on refusing to make a live action film. Hell, they need to talk to me! (Yeah, they have had 45 years to 'talk to me' and they never do... so... )

"Felix the Cat is a cartoon character created in 1919 by Otto Messmer and Pat Sullivan during the silent film era. An anthropomorphic young black cat with white eyes, a black body, and a giant grin, he is often considered one of the most recognized cartoon characters in history. Felix was the first fully realized recurring animal character in the history of American film animation."

The Ruff and Reddy Show is an American animated television series created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Premiering in December 1957 on NBC, it is historically significant as the very first network cartoon made specifically for Saturday morning television and the first production from the newly formed Hanna-Barbera studio.

Was once my reason for getting up on Saturday AM except perhaps for Sky King.

Saturday AM just isn't what it used to be.
