(5,559 posts)...the Reagan presidential library in Simi Valley maybe 30 years ago.
The library director was a Democrat, fwiw.
He took me into a very large storage area, closed off to the general public, which was lined with rows of very large floor to ceiling metal shelves.
The shelves were loaded with all sorts of things that had been gifted to Ronnie during his reign of error.
One item was the "world's largest" ball of twine, maybe 6 to 8 feet in diameter.
That was the most memorable thing I saw there.

(5,559 posts)...to Reagan, or any President, had to be, by law, documented and stored in their prez library.
That included the giant ball of twine.
I did see several very elaborately decorated, hand-tooled leather horse saddles that had been presented to Saint Ronnie, which he could not actually use, at least after he had left office.
No prez could personally keep anything gifted them during their term(s) of office. All such gifts belonged to the People of the U.S. and were not the personal property of any prez.
I'm sure that will be another established protocol that preznit Donnie dipshit violates if he ever has the chance.

Although, I understand theres an even larger one nearing completion in Chile.
These people can tell if theres water on planet in a star system in another galaxy.
From the outside, theres a 4 story building on top of a 3 story building. The upper one houses the telescope. And is capable of rotating 460 degrees.
My day job gets me in some weird places.

I laughed so hard when I saw it, I had teara running down my cheeks.
The company is now out of business. Apparently their baskets were quite expensive...
Here is a news story on this building:
