(41,125 posts)I love squirrels. We have lots. They are so cute when they play together & chase each other. My cat sits at the window & watches them play in my pine tree in the front yard. Some of my neighbors don't like them & one asked me to stop putting out peanuts but the crows & jays like them, so too bad.
Here's a guy, Mark Rober, who built three different backyard obstacle courses for his squirrels. These vids are a hoot! He even did a taste test in one of the vids to see what treat the squirrels liked best. Spoiler: walnuts.

(81,992 posts)Not sure why so many people seem to resent squirrels. Because they eat birdseed? WTH? LOL
Enjoy your sweet squirrels!

(27,616 posts)If the lower bowl gets emptied by the squirrel they will move it to my sliding glass door and the squirrels like to cuddle with my ceramic cat.

I put a second bowl on the deck under top one because the previous one ended up shattered on our deck last year
These pictures were taken 5 years apart ! I wonder if its the same squirrel or a relative ?

(530 posts)We have lots of squirrels and lots of dreys, (squirrel nests) in our neighborhood's very tall trees. We always set out, twice a day, a mixed selection of nuts for squirrels. They greet us at our doors if the feeders are empty. We also, feed the birds. I always wondered how they lived in their tree nests. Their home life is so sweet.
Our house is like a stop off after they leave home. Fresh water and food, the young, teenage squirrels are so cute to watch. We have a small serving station on a tree/shrub right by the front door, with a branch that goes across the front window.
During the Covid lock down, my 1st grade grandson, was attending online school through his school via computer connected to our TV. A squirrel jumped from the feeder to the screen on the window to let us know to fill it. My grandson shouted, "It looks like spider man!
Squirrels are great.
