The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsGood morning my DU family,
Today is a special day for someone, a day filled with significance and meaning that keep it important for what are usually very personal reasons.
It might be the anniversary of getting a job, a relationship important moment or anniversary, or a date that helped make us who we are today.
What I hope for is to be able to share that joy, to recognize the power of your moment and why it matters so to you.
What I'm grateful for is the opportunities for intimacy that these moments offer, to be able to experience a bond built on recognition and appreciation for their significance in your life.
Please give us a day filled with opportunities to be a friend, to share those moments that build our bonds, and to celebrate their outsized importance in their lives.
Have a joyful day of discover DU.
Love, John

Today there is a pride parade in the charming little riverside village of Hallowell, Maine, a pleasant walk from my place. Its always a jolly event. Everyone goes, young and old, families and friends. There will be political tables and crafts and dancing along a very short route through the tiny but picturesque downtown, a famously, historically liberal center next to the capital city. (The also tiny Augusta - not Portland!) My little neighbor, barely a teen, asked if I could lend her my rather faded rainbow flag for her to carry. I bought us both bright new ones. I do love the rainbow flag.
I am meeting old friends for lunch. I will know lots of people all around, many from my new community that has been growing with the current resistance movement, including members of Indivisible and the very active UU church. My social circle has, as a silver lining to the dark cloud of current events, expanded greatly with my fellow protesters and activists. Theres that rainbow!
