In the warmer months, my neighbors across the street blast their music from about noon until 1:00AM or later.
It doesn't bother me in daylight, not even up to 11:00 or midnight, but I start to lose patience after that.
With an early appointment tomorrow, I finally got fed up and called a non-emergency noise complaint, stressing to the dispatcher that there was no violence or visible illegal activity.
Dispatcher was cool, said they'd send someone over.
At that moment, after 10+ hours of uninterrupted booming bass, they shut everything down and drove off.
The cop arrived about two minutes later, walked the site and left.
About five minutes later the neighbors returned from what was clearly a bottle run and went back to partying.

(131,636 posts)who blasted loud music constantly even though we begged them to stop (we were in grad school and doing a lot of studying when we weren't working). They were really dickish about it, too. Finally we found another place to live, and just before we moved out we had a noise party. We invited friends to come over and bring the noisiest things they had - so one night for several hours we treated our neighbors to a concert of, among other things, our friends playing bagpipes and a trombone accompanied by bowling balls rolling down the hallway, and recordings of the loudest and most dissonant classical music we had with the speakers placed face down on the floor. It was very satisfying.

(67,504 posts)Approaching such noisy neighbors, even politely, generates "how dare you" resentment that manifests itself for years in the form of garbage on the lawn, keyed cars, other vandalism, etc. None of it proveable of course.

(3,482 posts)Never talked with them about it. But one day, I ran my chipper/shredder for awhile starting at 8 am, working through a brush pile. It was LOUD.
They apparently got the message and ended the outdoor party by midnight after that.
