The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI got up from my wheelchair this morning and walked
from the bedroom to the kitchen and back, using nothing but a pair of canes.
It's the first time in months I've been able to do that- I believe it to be because of a new arthritis medication I started taking last Friday (gold shots). Although I have little muscle mass left in my legs, it looks like I still have enough to give me new hope. Up to now it WAS impossible- today it was merely painful.
Wish me luck!

Now that I have a new bed, my back is finally feeling better than it has in months -- I've actually been able to exercise two days in a row. Even THINKING ABOUT bending over just enough to put something in the oven used to hurt! Congrats!

(15,676 posts)I was a come-to-you computer repair geek, until I lost the use of my legs (and the strength in my arms faded as well). Most homes are NOT wheelchair friendly, so my list of hundreds of loyal clients had to go elsewhere- I still have a few willing to come to me, but not nearly enough to sustain the business.
It's rough... and very boring!

(6,129 posts)As someone with mobility issues, I applaud your walk! I know it's hard but you seem to have the "gumption" it takes to walk again. I would really love to see a picture or a video of you walking. It would be an inspiration to many of us. Congratulations!

(15,676 posts)The pain throughout my alabaster body is greatly diminished. It's not the usual ordeal to lift myself up out of my chair. It's still a painful process to stand and walk, but it's not THAT painful.
I hope it lasts.

(31,170 posts)I've been going through awful joint pain for over a year and am finally seeing some help from concentrated cherry. Still have to take pain pills but it seems to have eased the severity a lot.
Good luck with the gold shots!
