Best responce you've ever gotten

From a christmas gift you gave. I bought my nephews one of those indoor putting green, golf sets about ten years ago. The kind you find in offices. They both went nuts with happiness. They played with it right away. They were around the age of 7 & 10. They played with it for years afterwards. I was so pleased.

My oldest grandchild was around 2. Thomas was new to the US market. It was xmas time.

His parents had spent big bucks on a really nice Tonka riding dump truck for him. He was playing on it when we showed up to deliver our gifts. I had picked up a few things for him and among them was the smallest Thomas set. Just a little round track with 2 trains if I remember correctly. Think it cost me $9.99.

Well once that little stinker opened that he wanted nothing to do with anything else. By the time that fad past a few years later he had amassed just about everything Thomas ever made. The whole extended family got in on the gig.

I never saw a kid love anything as much as he loved Thomas. He's in college now, sigh.

OK, we didn't really *give* this gift but we helped.

When I left for college, we sold the horses I had trained while I was in high school - a red dun pony and a big Appaloosa. Before I left for school the Appaloosa was sold to a young man who was going to train him to be a roping horse but the pony wasn't sold immediately.

About October a family paid for the pony but wanted to wait to give him to their daughter until Christmas. Christmas morning my sister and I groomed and tacked up the pony, tied red and green ribbons in his mane and tail and took him over to their house.

The parents made the little girl keep her eyes closed as they led her out to see her special Christmas present. She went completely nuts over him. We all laughed and cried. She kept him until she was just too tall for that pony and sold him to another little girl as a first pony.

That pony stayed around town as a first pony for many families for many years. He was named Gemini for the first Gemini space launch because that was the day he was born. As far as we know he lived well into his twenties - my parents saw him at least twenty years after we sold him in 1970.
