I used to buy tater tots to serve to my nephews when they were kids and came over for dinner. I remember them as being sort of like hash-browns that were formed into 1 inch cubes.
Just wanting something different today I bought a bag. The bag said, 'extra crispy'. It should have said extra tiny. Now they are 1/2 inch cubes.
Add another product to the 'downsized' list?

(7,638 posts)I love those little disgusting things. But they are a tad bit smaller.

Same size they've always been.

(12,682 posts)The cheaper brands have gotten a bit smaller, but you get more in the bag. Ore-Ida tots are still around 1" long by 1/2" diameter, but the bags have been getting smaller for the price.
BTW, for their morning "hash browns", Burger King uses the Ore-Ida Crowns, which are the round dollar coin sized (thereabouts) tater-tot patties.

(985 posts)Did you get the latter? Those are smaller. I'm not sure if Tater Tots changed size, but since they're sold by net weight, I can't see how they would justify re-tooling their machines to change sizes without some pretty strong consumer research.
We like Crowns better, btw. They are crispier.
