3. Yeah, it's an awful thing to be an animal hoarder. And hard as hell to treat. Poor critters.

And I feel for the woman (haven't watched). Hoarding is a form of OCD and it's miserable.

The house was so bad only one room was cleaned up and made safe to live in.

The whole house was a litter box.

It was awful to watch.

Was that really cat poo they were scraping off the counter tops with shovels?

That's the last time I watch that show if it's an animal hoarder...I can't handle it.

The smell must have been awful.

I bet most of the cats were put down.

They looked bad.

7. They should get that woman into therapy...not put her story on tv.

There's something horribly wrong with this country when we start treating serious mental illness as entertainment.

What's next... "Lobotomized Teen Moms"? "Survivor: Catatonia"?

... I think the show is a good thing because it's bringing to light the emotional (& perhaps medical)causes behind hoarding - not that people are 'just weird' ... but that there are deep-seated issues that lead to it (grief, OCD, abandoment, addiction, control etc) ... and that support from friends, family & loved ones are vital to EVERYONE.

And on some level, I think it's also opening people's eyes to the sickness in our culture - the addiction to 'stuff'. Who needs 2,000 lbs of crap from Goodwill in their house? Who needs 500 pairs of shoes? Who needs 50 cats? It's showing that stuff/the accumulation thereof does not equal happiness.
