Buddy Guy is the overlooked guy in the awards.

Letterman, Hoffman, those guys are great. Led Zepp, yeah. The dancer too. But Buddy Guy is the shit!
Listen to the early Zepp and tell me they didn't rip off the old blues guys.
Then listen to "Where's the Next One Coming From" by Buddy and tell me who's best.
Or "Damn Right I gOt The Blues"

Other than LZ, everyone who got it has done good work, but none of them at the level of Buddy Guy. There are very few artists who have had such impact.

on their interview last night on Letterman, they talked about how much they loved Buddy (Jimmy Page even told of being a teenager and hanging out with Jeff Beck listening to a record that featured Buddy Guy and Howlin' Wolf and Sonny Boy Williamson and others) and how much American blues was a huge influence on them.

Hell, they have been singing the praises of the blues for decades. Back when they started they were just doing what every single other blues musician in the world had ALWAYS been doing - listening to a lick and incorporating it into their own songs. People get too hung up on LZ "stealing" songs from blues musicians but they just did what blues musicians do because they loved blues music. They made it more electric and brought it into the rock world but they are bluesmen at heart. Most of the time when they initially didn;t credit an artist with a lyric or a riff it was because nobody knew who to credit. Blues musicians have been trading riffs for a century.

One of my favorite post-Zep albums is called Whole Lotta Blues - blues musicians doing Led Zep songs - sometimes the guy who did the one that Led Zep "stole"...lol
