The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsIs it morbid of me to have a working playlist for my own funeral?
Sure, it changes from time to time with additions and subtractions but it stays pretty much the same. It has lots of Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia, Leonard Cohen, half of Warren Zevon's catalog...
Is it morbid of me to also to have a playlist for my final few moments (should I be given notice), so that I could pop my headphones in and go out in peace?
Is it morbid of me to put my funeral playlist in a place where others can find it so that it's played as per my wished?
I'm not too sick or dying or anything, but I do have a few problems- hey dont we all.
Does anybody else have a funeral playlist?

(72,300 posts)Nothing resembling your list was sung.
But you should plan ahead.
We were discussing what should be done for each of us but we didn't get as far as a play-list.

(39,343 posts)I dont go to church, nor would I want something held at a funeral home (those funerals in the tiny front rooms at the mortuary are creepy). I dont even have a plot picked out. My brother and sister in law are 31 and had their plots picked and paid for by their first anniversary a few years ago.
I'd rather people gather at a pub and get sloshed while telling stories about me and listening to this music. I dont care about what becomes of the body, nor do I want a marker in some graveyard.

That leaves the question of what is to be done with me. I'd like my ashes to be spread about as there is no one (other than my husband) who would visit my grave.
