Of all the dumb seasonal ads the perfume ones are THE DUMBEST

Of course until we get smell-o-vision it is pretty much impossible to really showcase something like fragrance on TV so it all comes down to creating an image that the consumer wants to buy for themselves. But didn't they used to do a better job of it? I remember the old L'aire du Temps ads (running through field of flowers) and the Christie Brinkley Channel #19 ads and so many others that would create a certain image for the product.

Now they all seem to be models making out (rather unconvincingly) on a yacht or island or something totally unrelatable and fake with a whispered reference to the product at the end. You can't tell one from the other. I can't imagine the ads being effective but they sure spending a fortune running them!
