What do you do to minimize chaos around the holidays? Add a kitten!

DU, say hello to Pico! Buddy, Mocha, Sam and Kip are all trying to decide what we've done to their serene, predictable lives! Why Pico? Because the Safe Haven shelter is next to our favorite Cal-Mex restaurant....so we had to give him a name that is a synonym for salsa! Pico seems pretty brave and very happy...a purring machine and a nestler!

Love the side pic--all black tail?
Looks like he is past the leg climbing stage but well into the ornery stage eh? Oh what fun Has he been in your Christmas tree yet?
My 8yr old still feels the need to climb the curtains in big picture window of course so the neighbors can see a grown cat hanging on the curtain.
Enjoy that handsome baby and all the fun that comes with a kitten.

Our younger chocolate, Mocha, is transfixed (but she's always been a little hyper, so elicits a low growl and occasional hiss from Pico). Buddy, our older chocolate, is our middle cat, Sam's favorite (Buddy has the Kavorka - cats love him - probably because he stinks like fish most of the time!).

Sam makes unusual sounds around Pico. Kip, our older Maine Coon, is kind of dismissive - he thinks he owns the place.

Today Pico is "out of jail" (sitting up next to me as I type this, sitting on a couch, purring away). Socialization in the big, new world begins....should be interesting!

I'm always happy to see a kitty get a good home. I love his color pattern. But, seeing him makes me miss my handsome black and white boy.

FUN!

Pico the kitten - thinks everything is cool and fun. Exile to my office is over - our home is his oyster. Pico's world has gone from a cage at the shelter (a big cage, he was in there with three big cats...that's how we knew he would be able to adjust to our chaotic home!) to my 10X12 foot office....to 2500 square feet of unbridled fun! He purrs all the time, doesn't bite or use his claws, is a snuggler, adept at the litter box, communal water and food bowls. So far, the Christmas tree has been ignored.

Sam, our grey and white tabby, thinks this is really cool - follows Pico everywhere, bats him in the butt now and then, races around the house chasing him in a very big hide and seek game. No issues.

Kip, our tawny Maine Coon, is just a cool customer - he roams the house, observes, ponders - doesn't pay Pico a whole lot of attention, but no hissing or problems. Sam and Kip interact as always - and both Sam and Kip remain just fine with my wife and I.

Mocha, our 8 yr old chocolate, is smitten with the kitten - fascinated, making goo goo eyes, sniffing - Pico hisses at her for the most part and removes herself from Mocha's presence.

Buddy, our 10 yr old chocolate, is pretty calm with it all - he is Sam's best buddy and will likely remain so.

Christmas morning, when Sara comes over and Caitlin is awake (she works nights), should be delightfully messy and confusing!
