8. *Sincere* thanks for this O.P. Despite my too frequent erratic posts here, I love GD and its SoP

or rather, love the whole design of DU and the SoPs of the forums and groups, although all I frequent are GD, LBN, Lounge, and Meta, and my big bugaboo is how GD is abused with threads that belong elsewhere. The biggest battle went on with somebody who decided for himself that the G in GD meant "ANYTHING" -- dang the SoPs, who cares what THEY say?!1 It was like, why have any different forums or groups at all, just lump everything together.

Then there are those who have decided -- again, on their own authority -- that GD gets too depressing with its depressing politics and depressing current events, so they single handedly determine to bless us all out of all this depression to post cute or funny Lounge topics "BECAUSE WE NEED A BREAK." Uh, taking a "break" means going SOMEWHERE ELSE in DU or in the infinite reaches of the internet or, GASP, even turning the computer OFF and living some real life for a spell, not STAYING in GD to bring things IN that defy the SoP.

Then there are the vanity threads. And the Personal Events threads. It's really rough when there are deaths, illnesses, other personal things, and I will be the first to say that DU feels like family, but again there are other parts of DU for a better fit. And then there are the Special List of members who have somehow been certified to post their niche topics.

Often, some of these threads start out, "I KNOW that GD is NOT the place for this, BUT I'M DOING IT ANYWAY..." So there.

Anyway, the sincerity of my thanks to this O.P. is borne out by this rant.

9. I'm still trying to figure out how it happened.

I was in the Lounge, I hit to post in the Lounge. But something happened. It blanked and did not show me the Post. It me back to the main page of the Lounge. I had to go my posts to find where it went. I was shocked that it went there. But With people already rec'ing it and saying Positive things, I decided to leave it, let them know I did it every friday in the lounge if they want to keep watching for it.

It was a shock to me.

what I'm assuming are all the off-topic threads!1 But the reason I appreciate your O.P. here is that, unlike the ones who I get bugged over, you show RESPECT for the SoP, not that an apology is needed.
